Hyundai India bags 1,100 bookings for the newly launched sixth-gen Elantra sedan.
You could argue that the D-segment is not quite as happening as it used to be before. However, the launch of the new Hyundai Elantra has apparently brought some life back into the premium executive sedan segment in India. As per Hyundai, the sixth-gen Elantra has garnered over 1,100 bookings within six weeks of launch in the country. Hyundai also claims that over 18,000 customer enquiries have been received for the new Elantra.
Commenting on the development, Rakesh Srivastava, Sr. VP, Sales & Marketing, Hyundai India, said, “We are overwhelmed with the positive customer response and strong appreciation to the Elantra, making it a huge success in India. Hyundai’s Elantra has taken the pole position as a trendsetter in the industry by creating a new benchmark on Prestige in the segment. All Round Excellence and Great Experience are the true Expressions that are associated with the Elantra. We thank our customers and reaffirm our commitment to the customers by reducing the waiting period for Elantra so as to love and enjoy new world-class products.”
Hyundai launched the sixth-gen Elantra in India in August 2016. Compared to the outgoing model, the new Elantra marks significant improvements on almost all the fronts. The exterior design has been completely updated, the interior has been thoroughly revised, and then, in usual Hyundai tradition, the company has loaded the cabin to gills with all the bells and whistles that you’d ever want in a car of its price.
Powertrain wise, the new Elantra is offered in both diesel and petrol engines. The diesel version comes powered by a 126bhp/265Nm rated 1.6-litre turbo unit whereas the petrol gets a 2.0-litre engine that develops 150bhp and 196Nm. Both the engines are available with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.
The Hyundai Elantra is priced between Rs 12.99 lakh and Rs 19.19 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
