Hyundai Creta petrol is now available with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Automatic transmissions are the way to go if your daily drive/commute is confined to the choked and traffic infested parts of the city. And if you clock limited miles monthly/yearly a diesel-run vehicle is not necessarily what you want. Hyundai has definitely taken a note of these developments, and is now planning to deliver products that are in line with its customers’ demands. As a result, the manufacturer has launched a petrol automatic version of its best-selling Creta model in India.
Since its arrival in the market, the Hyundai Creta has been selling like hot cakes. Even now, Creta's monthly sales average out at around 7,500 – 8,000 units, which makes it the best-selling Hyundai in the country at the moment. However, while Hyundai had every base covered with the Creta – features, styling, quality, engines, etc. - it missed out on one - the Creta did not have a petrol automatic on offer. Of course, there was a diesel automatic from the get go but there's a huge price gap between the top-end manual SX+ petrol and diesel SX+ automatic (Rs 12.41 lakh vs Rs 15.10 lakh).
The newly added petrol automatic version will be offered only in SX+ trim as of now. And with a price tag of Rs 13.48 lakh, it’s around a lakh more expensive than its manual counterpart. Powertrain remains identical to the manual 1.6 petrol model rated at 122bhp and 154Nm. Unlike the Verna's 4-speeder auto, the Creta petrol automatic gets a more superior 6-speed automatic from the Elantra.
Currently, there’s no direct rival of the Creta petrol automatic in the market. However, that’ll change once the Honda BR-V arrives in the segment with a CVT automatic next month.
