The new Hyundai Creta is scheduled to be launched in the Indian market on January 16. A couple of days ago, the company opened bookings for the facelifted version for a token amount of Rs 25,000. Interestingly, the bookings made for the outgoing Creta can be converted to the new model. And of late, Hyundai has revealed interior details of the upcoming midsize SUV. Hyundai says that the Creta facelift epitomises an unprecedented fusion of cutting-edge technology and futuristic features, setting new benchmarks in the midsize SUV segment.
The dashboard of the refreshed Creta is dominated by twin 10.25-inch screens – an infotainment screen with in-built navigation and a digital driver display. With the introduction of the inbuilt music streaming application JioSaavn to the new Creta, users can listen to ad-free music.
You also get the physical buttons and knobs for the AC below the centre console. Other conveniences include ambient lighting, ventillated front seats, an eight-way powered driver’s seat, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, an eight-speaker Bose sound system, type-C USB chargers, as well as a Level 2 ADAS suite.
New Hyundai Creta: Safety Features
Speaking of safety, the updated Creta gets Hyundai’s SmartSense Level 2 ADAS suite with 19 functions, including a blind spot monitoring system that helps you detect vehicles in your blind spot. The standard safety equipment of the car includes six airbags, electronic stability control, all-wheel disc brakes, and 33 others. Other bits are a tyre pressure monitoring system and a 360-degree camera.
Hyundai claims that high-strength steel is used in the construction of the Hyundai Creta facelift, offering a protective shell for all the occupants. The body structure has been further reinforced on key areas, such as crash members, floor, side sill, and crash pad, ensuring a 'high level of crashworthiness'.
New Hyundai Creta: Exterior
Hyundai recently teased the exterior of the upcoming Hyundai Creta facelift. Upon launch, the midsize SUV will feature some cosmetic enhancements over the previous generation model, including a new radiator grille, a new Horizon LED Positioning lamp, DRLs, and a Quad beam LED headlamp. Six monochromatic paint options and a single dual-tone colour scheme will be offered – Robust Emerald Pearl (New), Fiery Red, Ranger Khaki, Abyss Black, Atlas White, Titan Grey, and Atlas White with Black Roof, respectively.
New Hyundai Creta: Engine
Under the skin, three engine options will be available: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated gasoline engine, a 1.5-litre diesel motor, and a new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit. For transmission, there will be four options on offer: a 6-speed manual, an IVT, a 7-speed DCT, and a 6-speed automatic.
In terms of market rivalry, the forthcoming midsize SUV will go against the Kia Seltos, the MG Astor, the Honda Elevate, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, the Skoda Kushaq, and the Volkswagen Taigun.
