Hyundai Motor India is reportedly making the electric version of the Creta SUV. Speculations are going on that Hyundai will bring the EV to India by 2025. Recently, the carmaker was caught testing the expected model on the outskirts of Chennai, India. According to industry rumours, the model could go into production by late 2024. The anticipated EV wasn't camouflaged while testing on the Indian roads. As seen in the images, the model is fully visible and mirrors the petrol-powered version in terms of appearance. The Creta SUV, shown in the spy photos, appears to be an EV because of the battery pack protruding under the body. Furthermore, it was spotted quite close to an EV charging station, hinting at possible electrification.
In terms of EVs, Hyundai India currently offers the Ioniq 5 and the Kona EV in India. The carmaker will expand its EV lineup for our market with the launch of the Creta EV sometime in 2025. The electric drivetrain and battery pack that Hyundai expects to deploy on the Creta EV in production are still unknown. However, we expect these details to come out soon as time passes.
