Customers planning to buy Hyundai cars need to shell out Rs 2,889 to Rs 82,906 more in light of the new infrastructure cess.
After Maruti Suzuki and Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai India has also announced a price hike across its range on account of the recently announced infrastructure cess for new cars. The price hike ranges between Rs. 2,889 and Rs 82,906, effective from March 1, 2016, on all of the new Hyundai models currently sold in the country.
Hyundai offers 10 different car models in the country. Its hatchbacks – Eon, i10, Grand i10 and Elite i20 – are now dearer by Rs 2,889, Rs 3,848, Rs 4,286, Rs 4,886, respectively. The Xcent compact-sedan is now costlier by Rs 4,726, while the Elite i20 Active gets a price increase of Rs 5,857. The slow-selling Verna is now expensive by Rs 5,677. The company’s current hot-seller Creta gets Rs 27,192 hike while the Elantra is now costlier by 45,044. The range topper Santa Fe will set you back by another Rs 82,906!
Commenting on the price hike, Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, Sr. Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Hyundai India, said, “The new levies in Union Budget 2016 have led to price increase across the models ranging from Rs 2,889 to Rs. 82,906. Today’s customers are discerning on net off value offerings. The change in price value equations could alter the overall demand, from with-in the segment to across the segments and fuel types.”
Sooner or later, all the manufacturers are going to increase the prices of their respective car models. Bigger cars – both in size and engine capacity – are going to get sizeable hike in prices since they now attract higher cess.
