Honda unveiled the NSX Concept-GT hybrid racer which is all set to enter into the GT500 class of the 2014 Supercar GT series at the Suzuka Circuit in Japan. Dedicated to the racing vehicle based on the NSX Concept which made its debut at the Detroit Motorshow, the NSX Concept-GT wears a Honda badge and looks extremely mean and sexy.
We have already seen Honda’s NSX Concept. This concept, which is the prototype of a street-legal hybrid supercar, will soon start production at the Honda plant in Maryville, Ohio, late in 2014 as a 2015 model. The NSX Concept GT breathes from this very genesis and gets ultra-light alloy rims wearing Bridgestone Potenza competition rubber on lowered suspension and a carbon-fibre front splitter and a huge double-decker rear wing.
Aerodynamics in the car is taken care of on the front apron, the side sills, and the best part of the car is the massive rear wing. All this along with a couple of side vents channel the air into the engine bay in the middle. The flared arches and the zero ground clearance clearly give the NSX GT that edge above the rest.
The NSX Concept-GT complies with the 2014 regulations on GT500 vehicles set by the Japan Automobile Federation. It will get a mid-mounted 2.0-litre inline direct-injection 4-cylinder turbo engine with a racing hybrid system. Honda is still tight-lipped on power output, but since it will compete in the GT500 class, power output is likely to be restricted to 500bhp.
We know we will enjoy watching this do the rounds of the Suzuka track soon and we will see how competitive Honda gets in this SuperGT series
