Honda cars to cost more from January 1, 2016

Honda Car India has announced that the company will be hiking prices of its entire new car model lineup ranging from the Brio hatchback to the CR-V premium SUV. The price hike for Honda cars is likely to be between Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 16,000 per model. In doing so, Honda joins a line of car makers who have announced a price hike for their new car range as well from January 1, 2016. Car makers are citing rising input costs and Honda also adds depreciation of the rupee as reasons for hiking prices for new cars and passing on the costs to consumers.

Other car makers who have also announced prices from January 1, 2016 owing to increased cost of production are Toyota, Hyundai, Nissan, Datsun, Renault, and Skoda. All car makers have announced price hikes ranging up to 3 per cent over current prices. Luxury car makers such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Mini have also announced a hike in prices effective January 1, 2016.

Prices for Honda cars currently start at Rs. 4.25 lakh for the entry level variant of the Brio and go up to Rs. 25.13 lakh, ex-showroom for the top of the line CR-V.
