Away from the Frankfurt Motor Show, Honda has unleashed the 10th generation Civic sedan in the United States.

The 2016 Civic is visibly different from the current model, featuring sleek and swept-back bodylines, LED daytime running lights and distinctive C-shaped LED taillights. Its dimensions have marginally increased as well, while the wheelbase itself is 1.2-inches longer.

Under the hood, Honda is offering two engine options in the US. First up is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that will be mated either to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT. And secondly, a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine that only comes with an automatic transmission system.

Honda claims that the new Civic offers the largest cabin in its segment, with 2-inches of additional legroom over the soon-to-be outgoing model. The cabin is equipped with automatic climate control, a new centre console, heated front and rear seats and heated side mirrors. The new Civic also allows you to take advantage of a 7-inch high-definition display using Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The 10th generation of the Honda Civic is slated to launch in the US later this year. It remains to be seen whether - and when - Honda decides to reintroduce the Civic in India, having discontinued it in 2012.
