Kicked by its increase in sales in FY 14, Honda now plans to surge in the Indian market by dreaming bigger than ever.
Be it two-wheelers or the four, Honda is doing everything right in terms of strategy and planning to boost its sales in India. Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) has now revealed that it would try selling over three lakh cars in financial year 2016-17.
The reason behind this big dream is simple, Honda sold 1,34,000 cars in India in FY 14, which was 83% more than what it sold in FY 13. As for the current year, it has already crossed the one lakh mark between April and October. At present, the company has two manufacturing facilities in India at Greater Noida and Alwar in Rajasthan, and in order to meet the demands, it might have to increase the capability of its Rajasthan plant. The company also plans to have a third manufacturing facility in Gujarat for which the company has already started the land acquisition.
Confirming the target, Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, Vice President - Marketing and Sales, HCIL said, “We have focused on expanding business in the country and would like to raise the sale of cars to cross 3,00,000 mark in financial year 2016-17.”
Honda also expects its sales figures to go up once it re-launches its Jazz model some time soon. Expected to be rightly priced, the car will be offered in both the petrol and diesel variants and is expected to make it big in the Indian automobile sector. The recently launched new City and Celerio were also received well by the customers.
In order to keep the momentum going, Honda also plans to expand its dealership network across the nation. Honda plans to have 230 dealerships in India by March 2015 taking it closer to customers and deeper in India. HCIL also plans to have 100 more dealerships than the present number by March 2016.
