Blame on the new launches or the commitment of Honda India, the Japanese carmaker is set to have record sales in 2014.
Honda India reported a 62% growth over 2013 sales figures which also means that this would be the best year for the Japanese carmaker in terms of sales. The company sold 1.11 lakh units in 2013 which will rise to 1.8 lakh units by the year end.
The trend which was started by Amaze was carried on by recently launched City and Mobilio to make Honda’s journey in India a happy affair. From January to November, the company sold 1.65 lakh units and expects to sell another 15,000 cars before 2014 finishes.
Commenting on the sales figures, Jnaneswar Sen, Senior Vice President – Sales and Marketing, Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) said, “2014 was a very successful year for Honda as it continued its growth journey for the third consecutive year.”
Expanding the business, Honda India also crossed the mark of having 200 dealerships across the nation.
"The company plans to rope in another 100 dealers by the end of the next fiscal and take the total tally to 300 facilities by March 2016," Sen added.
The new City sold more than 71,000 units till November and Mobilio, which was launched five months ago, has sold over 22,000 units.
This feat has also been achieved by Honda by doubling its manufacturing capacity with the start of operations in its Tapukara plant.
