Honda, the Japanese carmaker, has pulled the wraps off its all-electric SUV for the European market. Dubbed the e:Ny1, it is the brand's second fully electric SUV, and it is styled similarly to the HR-V model. Last year, the new electric SUV was showcased as e:Ny1 prototype SUV at the European Media Event in Offenbach, Germany. The e:Ny1 appears to be a derivative of the e:NS1 and the e:NP1 electric SUVs that are available in the Chinese market, and it is the third model in the e:N series of SUVs. According to the manufacturer, the new SUV sits on the newly developed e:N Architecture platform, which is expected to be used in future models. As far as our home market is concerned, Honda is still focusing on hybrid and ICE-powered vehicles and has no plans to launch the new e:Ny1 in India.
Honda e:Ny1 Electric SUV: Price, Competition
In the European market, Honda's new e:Ny1 Electric could demand around £30,000 (Rs 30.70 lakh, ex-showroom). Once launched there, it will rival the Hyundai Kona Electric and the Peugeot e-2008 compact SUV.

Honda e:Ny1 Electric SUV: What is e:N Architecture?
The Honda e:Ny1 Electric SUV is based on new e:N architecture, which is a front-wheel-drive platform that is characterised by a dedicated high rigidity body structure, a low centre of gravity, and intelligently designed under-floor aerodynamics. According to the manufacturer, this provides exciting & fun driving experiences to the driver.
Honda e:Ny1 Electric SUV: Chassis
The e:Ny1 is built around a newly developed chassis that provides better torsional rigidity that will enhance ride quality. This is achieved with the help of a high-tensile steel, which accounts for about 47 per cent of the SUV's body weight.
Honda e:Ny1 Electric SUV: Design & Features
In terms of design, the e:Ny1 looks similar to the HR-V model. Up front, the new electric vehicle, therefore, features a closed grille, sleek LED headlamps, and a new bumper. The car sits on a unique set of multi-spoked alloy wheels. Also new are branding elements, including the white-coloured 'H' emblem found on the steering wheel and the charging flap and new typeface for Honda badging at the rear. In all, it is a strong-looking and aggressive SUV.
On the feature front, the SUV comes with a multi-functional steering wheel, ambient lighting on the doors, a panoramic sunroof, a premium sound system, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, dual-zone AC, a vertically mounted 15.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and an instrument console which is around 10.25-inch in size.

Honda e:Ny1 Electric SUV: Powertrain, Battery
The Honda e:Ny1 electric vehicle's front-wheel-drive platform includes an electric motor, gearbox, and a lightweight three-in-one integrated power drive unit. Powering the new EV is a single front-mounted electric motor that pushes out around 201bhp of maximum power and 310Nm of peak torque.
The 68.8kWh lithium-ion battery pack offers a claimed range of up to 412 kilometre. The SUV, according to the manufacturer, also supports fast charging from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in around 40 to 50 minutes.
