Honda has unveiled a brand new SUV for the Chinese market at the 2016 Beijing Motor Show. The SUV is called the Honda Avancier and will sit higher in the range than the Honda CR-V.
Until now, Honda’s flagship SUV has been the CR-V, and it has been on sale for a while. Honda also makes the HR-V SUV which sits below the CR-V. Honda’s smallest SUV is the compact SUV, BR-V which is to be launched in India in May 2016.
After unveiling the concept in China last year, the production ready version of the Avancier gets a sloping roof line, roof mounter rear spoiler, and a heavily raked windscreen to maintain the essence of the concept version. Like all modern Hondas, the Avancier has a thick chrome band grille at the front with large bumpers and LED headlamps with DRLs similar to the ones on the latest Accord sedan.
Honda has equipped the Avancier with features like heated seats, panoramic sunroof and Honda;s SH-AWD system. The powertrain will be a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with an optional hybrid option which will be included later on mated to a 9-speed automatic. As standard will be a 2.4-litre petrol engine from the Accord with a choice of a 6-speed manual or automatic gearboxes.
Initially, the Avancier is focused on the Chinese market, but Honda might asses sales in international markets for their new flagship SUV as well.
