Available with three engine options, the sixth-generation of Chevrolet Camaro broke cover promising a never-seen-before blend of performance, technology and refinement.

Chevrolet recently revealed the latest avatar of its highly successful Camaro. The sixth-generation Camaro will be available with six powertrain combinations where three engine options – 2.0L Turbo delivering 275bhp and 400Nm, an all-new 3.6L V6 producing 335bhp and 385Nm, and the 6.2L V8, which delivers 455bhp and 617 Nm – will be mated to either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The new Camaro is over 200 pounds lighter (depending on the variant) than its previous avatar which will make it more nimble and responsive. With improved handling and more peak output, the sixth-generation Camaro SS – the top of the line Camaro with the 6.2-litre V8 engine – outdoes the fifth-generation Camaro on a race track.

The instrument cluster of the previous generation Camaro has been replaced with a new one that blends analog gauges with an 8-inch high-definition centre screen that can be customised to show information like performance data and navigation.

On the outside, the new Camaro looks more sculpted than its predecessor. With 10 colour options, five interior colour combinations, lighting options and a full complement of dealer-available accessories including wheels, stripe packages and additional accessories give ample opportunities to the customers to make their car stand out. The car has gone through over 350 hours of wind tunnel testing, reducing drag on LT models and improving downforce on the SS Camaros.

“We have had the incredible opportunity to meet literally thousands of Gen 5 Camaro owners who provided direct feedback on what they loved about their car and what they wanted for the next-gen Camaro. As a result, the 2016 Camaro builds on what made the current Camaro such a success with more power, more agile handling and more technology,” said Al Oppenheiser, Camaro chief engineer.
