The Maruti Grand Vitara moniker will be making a comeback in India and it will even have AWD!
Maruti Suzuki is now accepting bookings for its upcoming SUV, the Grand Vitara, which will be based on the same platform as the recently revealed Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. In fact, the Grand Vitara will even be built at Toyota’s factory in Bidadi, Karnataka.
The SUV will be coming in through the NEXA outlets, unlike the Brezza, which continues to retail through Maruti Suzuki Arena outlets. It will be bring in many firsts for Maruti Suzuki, most prominent of which will be the strong-hybrid system. The AWD system will be available both automatic and manual transmissions, and will be an ode to the original Grand Vitara SUV! On the features front, the Grand Vitara will pack in all the latest tech from the latest Maruti cars. The new 9-inch infotainment system, a 360-degree camera and a head-up display will all be part of the package.
As far as pricing goes, we expect the Maruti SUV to be priced between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 20 lakh (both ex-showroom). The range is so vast as the Grand Vitara will be a strong-hybrid SUV, meaning it will have an electric motor and battery pack, for the higher-end variants. Apart from its sister SUV, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, the Maruti Grand Vitara will be rivalling the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq.
