GM Defense, a division of General Motors (GM), has unveiled its new tactical vehicle concept, called the 'Next Gen' at the 2024 edition of AUSA (Association of the U.S. Army). The state-of-the-art vehicle supports enhanced mobility and versatility for military operations. It allows for discreet surveillance and silent driving, along with stealthy entry and exit in high-threat areas. Additionally, the vehicle offers exportable power for mission systems and energy-intensive equipment. It is equipped with roll-over protection, electronic stability control, four- and five-point seat belt harnesses, anti-lock braking, and 360-degree camera capabilities. Other notable highlights include autonomy-ready with manned and unmanned options, and add-on armor capable.

The 'Next Gen' prototype, which is based on the Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD ZR2 truck, has a 2.8-litre Duramax Turbo diesel engine paired with a 12-module battery system. The hybrid technology minimizes logistical constraints by lowering fuel consumption and enabling the vehicle to utilize the current JP8 fuel infrastructure. Moreover, the Ultium battery and Duramax engine function together to facilitate Silent Drive and Watch modes, decreasing heat and sound traces while making the vehicle more difficult to trace. These capabilities enhance mission range and endurance by more than 300 kilometres, and support several military sensors and equipment.
