SsangYong Motor Company has unveiled its all new B-segment SUV, the Tivoli, at this year’s Geneva Motor Show.
The company has called Tivoli a ‘landmark product’, having spent 42 months and 280 million Euros on its development. It comes in both 1.6 L petrol and diesel versions, with a four wheel drive variant also available to differentiate it from other compact SUVs.
“This is not just a new car, but a new beginning for SsangYong around the world,” said Mr Lee. “Tivoli is our first new car since we introduced the Korando C-segment SUV crossover in 2010, and the first to be launched following the merger of SsangYong and Mahindra & Mahindra in 2011. After some 42 months of development and an investment of 280 million Euros (350 billion Korean won), this is a landmark product, a major achievement, and a significant day in the brand’s history.
The name of the car was derived from an Italian city which has a reputation for style. Unsurprisingly, a lot of attention has gone into its styling and design, with a monocoque construction based on company’s development philosophy of Robust, Specialty and Premium.
Safety, however, remains the priority for SsangYong and Tivoli comes packed with seven airbags, multi-function ESP (Electronic Stability Program), and Active Rollover Protection. In addition, a tyre pressure monitoring system and a warning reminder can be found on all five seat belt positions.
