Whenever a new Ferrari rolls out from its Maranello headquarters, it leaves the world awestruck. And same can be said about the 488 GTB, which was officially unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland today.

The 488 GTB will leave any track abuzz with its 4-litre, twin turbo, V8 engine that produces a staggering 660bhp and 760Nm of torque. The power is channelled to the wheels through a seven-speed gearbox that comes equipped with Variable Torque Management that optimally distributes the torque on all the wheels.

The unveiling of the 488 GTB marks 40 years since Ferrari launched the 308 GTB, which was its first mid-rear-engined V8 production car. But for now, its job is to fill in the shoes of the 458 Italia. And on paper, it certainly seems to be the right successor to the famous coupe with 100 more horses and 10 kgs lighter.

And its on-track performance vindicates our assumption with Ferrari claiming it set a lap time of 1:23.0 at it’s Fiorano test circuit, making it the third fastest Ferrari road car ever around the 2.997 km track.
