The legendary British car manufacturer has just released details of their all-new Jaguar XE, which is set to become the most fuel efficient Jaguar of all time. The new will be able to preserve fuel because of its use of the extensive use of aluminum.
According to Jaguar the new car will be able to achieve a fuel economy of 25 km/l thanks to the lightweight construction technology. The carmaker has developed an all-new modular architecture around their fifth-generation bonded and riveted aluminum technology.
Lightweight construction has always been a core element of Jaguar's DNA and they are the leaders in cutting-edge aluminum technology in the automotive industry. The Jaguar XJ, XK and F-Type have all been developed using exceptionally stiff bonded and riveted aluminum structures, and now the XE becomes the latest model to use this aerospace-inspired technology.
"The Jaguar XE body uses over 75% aluminum content, which far exceeds any other car in its class. This gives us a body structure with unrivalled low weight: it's light but also immensely strong with extremely high levels of torsional stiffness. We've made sure our aluminium-intensive body structure exceeds all global safety standards without compromising on vehicle design or refinement", says Dr Mark White, Jaguar's Chief Technical Specialist.
The world premiere of the new Jaguar XE will be held in London on September 8th.
