Due to be revealed globally on November 11, the fourth-generation Octavia is likely to get 48V mild-hybrid tech this time around.
Just a few days back, we brought you the design sketches of the upcoming 2020 Skoda Rapid & also informed our readers that Skoda India is also mulling over the possibility of bringing the updated 2020 Octavia here, under the INDIA 2.0 Project. While it's still very early to anticipate a definitive timeline for this move, for now, we can relish the official design sketches of the 2020 Octavia, that have been recently released by Skoda.
Based on a quick examination, the 2020 Octavia, much like all new Skoda models, is expected to get aggressive styling. The split headlamp design, that came into effect with the 2017 facelift version in India, will be replaced by single housing units that join a bigger butterfly grille. However, the single units will look even sharper & may feature Matrix LED tech. The bumper will also feature the now-signature wide air dam design, with the foglamp housings melding with the lower grille.
At the back, changes include a redesigned fascia & pointy tail lamps, extending onto the boot lid. Like all new Skoda models, the tailgate of the 2020 Octavia will also feature 'SKODA' lettering. The signature notchback look, however, will be retained & the coupe-like roofline seems to be extended further back than the current generation.
While the engine options are likely to be unchanged, the 2020 Octavia, like the new Superb, is expected to bring along a 48V mild-hybrid powertrain option.
