The EcoSport was the next big thing that Ford was working on and ever since the Auto Expo in Delhi last year, all eyes were on the American company as it smoothened out the road ahead for this car. Ford is currently showing the final, production-ready version of the EcoSport in select locations across 12 cities in India and is letting consumers get a touch and feel of the car before they officially launch it.
Ford has confirmed that it will commence bookings once the customer experience drive is completed in May 2013 and the deliveries of the cars will start from June. The company also confirmed that the EcoSport will come with the 1.5-litre petrol and diesel powertrains which currently do duty on the Fiesta saloon.
Ford is also giving the customers a third option of its acclaimed 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbocharged petrol powertrain which churns out 123bhp. It is termed that the localization content on the EcoSport will be on the higher side and that means the cost will come down significantly.
