The iconic American muscle car, the Ford Mustang has been launched in India for a price of Rs. 65 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Ford has finally brought the iconic Mustang to India for the first time since it was introduced 52-years ago. Ford showcased the Mustang for the first time in India at the Auto Expo in Greater Noida and have now launched the car for a price of Rs 65 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Ford has launched the the Mustang GT with a 5-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine that churns out 400bhp. For the Indian market, the Mustang will come mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, and power is sent to the rear wheel with a limited slip differential with 515Nm of torque for twisting power. The driver has choice of four driving modes – Normal which provides a balance of comfort and responsive handling, Sport+ which which sharpens up the throttle and steering and also holds the gears longer, Track is for the enthusiast who would like to take it out to a race track where the engine sound becomes louder all the characteristics of the car become sharper. The final mode is the Snow/Wet mode which comes in handy for when the weather Gods refuse to cooperate.
When it comes to features, Ford hasn’t cut any corners with the Mustang. The iconic muscle car gets19-inch alloy wheels and performance brakes, Ford SYNC2 with an 8-inch touch screen, keyless entry with push button start, and MyKey. Ford’s MyKey technology allows owners to to limit the top speed and turn off the driver assistance features of the vehicle if they hand it over to someone else. The Mustang also has Track Apps built in as standard. Eight airbags including a glove box knee airbag for the front passenger.
In the first phase of the launch, the Ford Mustang will be available in Delhi and Mumbai for the time being and has stated accepting bookings for the car. But Ford will be launching the Mustang soon in other regions gradually in a phased manner.
