Offering a glimpse of hope in a depressed market, Ford India today announced that it has sold 12,338 units including exports, in July, the highest-ever monthly sales in its 17-year history in the Indian market. Ford sold 7,867 units domestically, and exported 4471 units – its highest export number ever.

We already brought you news about the all-new Ford EcoSport receiving 30,000 bookings in the first 17 days after its launch, and that has helped Ford in gaining momentum over sales. “Despite the near-term difficulty in the economy, our customers have put their trust in the urban SUV EcoSport, and with the Figo ranking as the best premium compact car in the prestigious J.D. Power India vehicle dependability study 2013, we are delighted to achieve the highest-ever sales in our history this month. It’s encouraging to see customers visit our showrooms, ready to experience new emerging segments that are driving growth,” said Vinay Piparsania, Executive Director, Marketing, Sales and Service.

In July, Ford India commenced shipments of the EcoSport to South Africa, Mexico and Aruba. The company inaugurated a dedicated car parking yard at the Chennai port to handle the increased export vehicle volume more efficiently.
