Ford to unveil 'global concept' at Auto Expo

Ford issued a press release stating that it will unveil a new global concept vehicle along with showcasing the technology behind its award winning Ecoboost engine at this year’s Auto Expo in Greater Noida and New Delhi.

Ford claims that the concept is; based on a global design philosophy, but created to serve the specific needs of consumers in India, the concept will showcase Ford’s vision for the future in the competitive compact-car segment in India and other dynamic emerging markets.

Ford claims that the Asia-Pacific region will account for nearly a third of its global sales by around 2014,  in comparison to 15 percent in 2010.

Ford claims the concept will; give visitors a glimpse into the kind of vehicle that Ford expects to play an important role in the region.

The compact car segment is the most competitive segment in India and has been outpacing the industry for the past decade making up almost a third of total sales in 2013. Ford expects compact car sales in India to grow from about 1 million units last year to roughly 2 million units in 2018 reflecting the significance of compact cars to Indian consumers.
