Ford has revealed the all new EcoSport which will arrive in India soon with a host of new features and exterior design.
Ford Motor Company has now given their global compact SUV, the Ford EcoSport, a much needed facelift with a refreshed exterior and loaded with new features. The EcoSport when first launched in India found many India buyers running to their nearest Ford dealerships to get their hands on it. Which is why, the new EcoSport is excepted to Arrive in India very soon (early 2017). Also for the very first time, Ford will also Compact SUV in the American market as well when they launch it in 2018.
The basic architecture underneath the body remains the same. But the styling has been revamped with an new and larger front grille, with re-profiled headlamps and new fog lamps design with updated front and rear bumpers. For the European market, Ford had introduced a version of the car with the spare wheel mounted underneath the floor of the car, as it is in the latest images released by the manufacturer. But for the Indian market, it is likely that Ford will continue with the tailgate mounted spare wheel which was one of the major draws of the vehicles styling which attracted Indian buyers. Globally, the EcoSport will be available in ten exterior body colours and ambient lighting.
The interior design may differ from market to market, but the images of the car reveal an all new overhauled interior for the new EcoSport. The updates to the interior include a much needed modern touch screen with the new Ford SYNC 3 infotainment software with Andriod Auto and Apple CarPlay, and SYNC Connect with FordPass and an optional Bang & Olufsen sound system.
Globally, Ford will offer a 4WD 2.0-litre four cylinder engine with the new EcoSport. But for India, the engine line-up is likely to remain the same, 1.5-litre petrol, 1.5-litre diesel and the 1.0-litre EcoBoost. A 5-speed manual will be a standard offering with 6-speed automatic optional variants with the 1.5-litre petrol. The larger 2.0-litre engine is unlikely to be sold in India.
The EcoSport faces stiff competition in India from the Vitara Brezza from Maruti Suzuki, with Hyundai also planning to join in all the fun with a sub-4-metre SUV soon. To remain competitive in terms of pricing, some features and options may not be brought to India to keep the costs and pricing low. It remains to be seen how Ford plays the next hand in the game.
