The Gurkha Xtreme gets additional 54bhp and 101Nm over the standard model.
Force Motors is planning to soon launch a more powerful variant of its Gurkha off-roader, which will be christened Gurkha Xtreme. The ‘Xtreme’ suffix in the variant stands for more power, as confirmed by the leaked brochure of the vehicle (below) that has been doing rounds on the internet.
The Force Gurkha Xtreme will draw its power from a Mercedes-Benz OM611-derived 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that churns out 138bhp of power and 321Nm of twist force. For comparison, that a lot more mechanical force than the regular Gurkha, which manages to produce only 84bhp and 230Nm from its 2.6-litre motor. The new engine will be mated to 5-speed manual gearbox.
Being a vehicle that prioritises off-roading over anything else, the Gurkha Xtreme will of course sport a standard 4x4 drivetrain with front and rear locking differentials. Gurkha Xtreme will feature a multi-link setup suspension with anti-roll bars both at the front and rear. As compared to the standard model, the Xtreme will feature a 40mm wider front track as well.
The leaked picture suggests that the Gurkha Xtreme will be offered only as a three-door model, both with hardtop and softtop options. However, the updated 2.2-litre powertrain may make its way on to the longer five-door variant soon. Expect the vehicle to be launched in India very soon.
