After the C-Class winning World Car of the Year award, Mercedes-Benz S-Class has been crowned with World Luxury Car award, for the second consecutive time in two years.

Here is the second feather in Mercedes-Benz’s cap after its C-Class winning the World Car of the Year. At the New York International Auto Show, Mercedes-Benz received another accolade when its S-Class was given the World Luxury Car of the Year award. What makes this achievement all the more special is that it won the same prize in 2014 as well, when the category was introduced for the first time.

In the final round, the S-Class won the title over the BMW i8 and the Range Rover Autobiography Black LWB.

On the car’s success, the jury of The World Car Awards said, “Mercedes-Benz design and technology are forming a marriage that is happier than ever. There is no better car to prove it than this stunningly beautiful derivative of the S-class, available with powerful, turbocharged V-8 and V-12 engines.”

Adding further to what the jury said, Dr. Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars said, “The S-Class Coupé lives up to the claim ‘The best or nothing' in every detail and in an exceptionally exclusive fashion: in terms of aesthetics, technology and quality. A brand ambassador par excellence. And the entire Mercedes team is proud that the WORLD CAR OF THE YEAR jury takes a similar view.”

This was Mercedes-Benz’s second award out of the three awards it bagged competing in five different categories.
