Despite Fernando Alonso's best efforts, he was unable to sell his Ferrari Enzo and make a fortune in the process. Alonso put his 2011 Ferrari Enzo up for sale at the private Monaco Car Auctions. The Spaniard was unable to sell his classic automobile despite its high demand. With initial bids at EUR 4.2 million, Fernando Alonso's vehicle didn't get the USD 5.5 million he was hoping for. The deal was cancelled since no one was interested in buying the supercar. Alonso had put barely 4,800km on his Enzo before he sold it. The two-time world champion has his Scuderia Ferrari on exhibit at his museum in Spain after driving for the team from 2010 to 2014. Even though Fernando's auction bid fell short, it didn't stop him from looking at other valuables. The Spaniard reportedly wanted to purchase an Aston Martin DB4 GT.

Alonso uploaded a picture of himself with his 2011 Ferrari Enzo to his fans, announcing the sale of the car. "Happy to announce that I will put my Enzo (first scoca) number 1 up for sale in Monaco. I hope the new owner of this unique piece enjoys it very much.”

It's a common misconception that Alonso bought the vehicle brand new. He did not get the vehicle as a present from Ferrari, either. Alonso is the third owner of the automobile he purchased himself. Collectors are always on the lookout for rare supercars like these at auction.
To honour the name of its founder, Ferrari dubbed the automobile the Enzo. There were just 400 units of these automobiles ever produced, thus cementing their rarity. In celebration of their 400th model, they auctioned it off to the Vatican City State for roughly USD 1 million. It only goes to prove that someone will buy Fernando Alonso's automobile eventually.

Ferrari Enzo
The Ferrari Enzo is a mid-engine sports car named after the company's namesake, Enzo Ferrari. Some of the technologies from Formula One that went into its creation include the carbon fibre body, the automated-shift manual gearbox, and the carbon fibre-reinforced silicon carbide (C/SiC) ceramic composite disc brakes.
With the Enzo, Ferrari debuted the F140B, a new generation of V12 engines. Aside from that, it's an Enzo, meaning it's one of just 399 in existence, and it sports a Formula One-derived 6.0-litre V12 that produces a monstrous 650bhp and 657Nm of torque.
