The Cooper SE Convertible, the first all-electric convertible model, has been revealed globally. The first ever drop-top EV, at least for now, will only bring 999 units of the Mini Cooper SE Convertible primarily to the European market, British carmaker Mini has announced. The company will start selling a limited number in Europe from April 2023 onwards. The new Cooper SE is said to be the world's first emission-free premium convertible in the small car segment. The EV is available in two exterior colour options - Enigmatic Black and White Silver. The Mini SE Convertible continues with the same powertrain, but boasts a claimed electric range of up to 201 kilometre under the WLTP (Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure) cycle.

With a 135kW electric motor, the Mini SE Convertible will be able to generate 184bhp and 270Nm of peak torque. Mini claims that the EV can sprint from 0 to 100km/h in 8.2 seconds. Although the size of the battery has been unknown, it is likely that the car manufacturer will use the same 32.6kWh lithium-ion battery pack from its closed-top counterpart. With fast charging technology, the SE Convertible can be charged up to 80 percent in just 2.5 hours.
Inside, the Mini SE Convertible features heated seats with adjustable thigh support. Also, the car gets a multifunctional sports steering wheel, which is done in Nappa leather. We have signature MINI Electric yellow accents highlighting the electric powertrain, like the start/stop switch. Other notable details include a connected infotainment system, a Head-Up display, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go functionality, and MINI Driving Assistant.
Aside from two exterior colour options, we have door handles, side scuttles, and the surrounds of the front and rear lights finished in Resolute Bronze. Besides, the MINI logo and the model lettering get Piano Black.
The Cooper SE has a convertible rooftop with a Union Jack pattern that can be opened or closed or set as a sliding roof. It comes with the dual-tone spoke design on the 17-inch alloy wheels. Moreover, the E logo can be found on the front apron and the rear, underlining its emission-free powertrain. To signify its limited edition, the open-air MINI gets the '1 of 999' lettering on the side scuttles and door sill trims.
