Eight units of Bugatti Veyron are still up for grabs after the production started in 2005 and the company decided to keep the production limited to 450 units.
Roughly 10 years ago, Bugatti decided to go with the production of a car that was meant to set standards so high that no other car manages to come close to it for years to come. Yes, it sounds kind of difficult to believe that the Veyron has been around for almost a decade, but is true. In these ten years, Bugatti has sold 442 cars which is not much from a carmaker’s perspective, but is enough for the firm to stay satisfied considering the price a Veyron comes at.
The production of Veyron was initially supposed to be limited to 300 units, but it was later increased to 450 units once the Grand Sports was introduced in 2008. Considering the time Bugatti has taken to make 442 cars, it might take another few months before these eight cars are built too. In order to sell these eight Bugatti Veyron Grand Sports, Bugatti might have to roll out some special edition to make these cars more exclusive and desirable than a typical Veyron.
Speaking on the numbers, Bugatti boss Wolfgang Durheimer said, “We have the world’s fastest production car record; I have close links to motorsport where everyone goes for the [record holder]. There’s one crazy American that wants to beat us [Hennessey Venom GT]. So we will have to do our homework and get prepared for the future.”
Bugatti says that once the production of Veyron ends sometime in January, it won’t waste any time and will start working on Veyron’s successor which, some say, will be known as Chiron. The Bugatti Chiron, according to the rumours, will produce a mouth watering 1,500bhp of power and 1,500Nm of torque. The car is expected to cross the 450kmph mark and have two electrically powered turbochargers.
