The CVT derivative of the Datsun Go & Go+ are expected to go on sale in October 2019.
Nissan’s budget arm, Datsun, is preparing to launch the CVT (automatic) versions of the Go & Go+ models in the country soon. The manufacturer will reveal the new automatic variants later this month, and these are expected to go on sale from October 2019.
At the moment, there’s no news on the set of powertrains that will be offered in the new versions. However, expect both the models to retain the existing 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol unit that develops 67bhp and 104Nm of torque. The engine will be mated to a CVT automatic, which is expected to be the same unit that does duty in the Nissan Micra CVT. The five-speed manual version will continue to be offered alongside.
Apart from the introduction of CVT, the automatic versions of the Go & Go+ are expected to remain unchanged. That said, they will come with a couple of cosmetic updates, as well as CVT badging to differentiate them from the regular models.
The launch of the CVT versions are expected to pique the interest of car buyers in the country, since customer preference is slowly but steadily tilting towards automatics, even in the budget end. Another advantage that the Go & Go+ CVT will have is that the CVT transmission is smoother in operation as compared to AMTs (automated manual transmission) that are offered in the most of the cars in entry-level segment. The CVT version of Go & Go+ are expected to be priced between Rs 5.5 lakh - Rs 6 lakh, ex-showroom.
