Datsun today unveiled its first car in Delhi today. The Datsun brand has returned to the world stage after 32 years and today it showcased its first offering in India – the all-new GO. The name of the new car is inspired by the first Datsun, the DAT-GO that was long ago.

Carlos Ghosn, Nissan Motor President and CEO announced Nissans ambitious plans with the Datsun brand. According to him, the GO will lead Nissan’s ambitious plans to get 10% of the Indian passenger market share by 2016-17.

He also said that the Go will be priced below the 4 lakh quadrant and will go on sale early 2014. The GO will get the 1.2-litre engine that does duty on the Micra, but its power will be tuned accordingly. The GO shares the same wheelbase as the Micra – 2450mm and you can expect similar spacious interiors.

Though a budget car, the Datsun GO scores big time on looks and with this aggressive design and affordable prices, we don’t need to predict how well it will do in the Indian market.  As Mr. Ghosn himself puts it, “It’s also an exciting moment for many women and men here in India who – today – come one step closer to realizing the dream of purchasing a car,”
