Another global annual motoring event bites the dust this year due to the ongoing Coronavirus outbreak.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic has affected all stakeholders of the Pebble Beach Concours – from the judges and entrants to the volunteers and guests – organisers, without further ado, have officially cancelled this year's edition of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Consequently, the 70th Pebble Beach Concours will now take place on Sunday, August 15, 2021. All the tickets sold this year will be valid for next year's event and those ticket holders who will not be able to attend the 2021 event can contact the show organisers to request a full refund.
Sharing her thoughts on the difficult decision, Sandra Button, Concours Chairman, said, 'My heart goes out to all of the people who are involved in the Pebble Beach Concours and who are impacted by this decision. Many of our entrants have been working on a special car for years, and this was to be their moment. Some of our overseas entrants were nearing the point of putting their cars on boats and planes, and their own travel arrangements have long been made. The same is true for many of our international cadre of judges.'
The car selection process for this year's event was completed recently, and the entrants had been notified. However, the acceptance letters sent out to the entrants did hint at a delay. Although it has not been clarified yet, the same cars and entrants selected this year are likely to be a part of next year's show, without any changes.
