As we get closer to the India debut of the new C5 Aircross, Citroen has just rolled off the first unit from its facility in Thiruvallur in Tamil Nadu. The French carmaker has initially scheduled to bring in the C5 Aircross last year, but the launch was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking on the occasion, Emmanuel Delay, Executive Vice President, Stellantis & Chairman, PCA Automobile India Pvt Ltd & PSA AVTEC Powertrain Pvt Ltd. said, “We are excited to officially rollout the first Citroën C5 Aircross SUV, which will be the first of many differentiating products for India from the brand. There is lot of market anticipation for the new Citroën C5 Aircross SUV, which will set a benchmark in style, comfort and innovation in its segment in India.”

Making its India debut with the C5 Aircross, Citroen claims that the car puts comfort at the top of the priority list. Under the Citroen Advanced Comfort Programme, the car comes with a hydraulic cushion equipped suspension that has been exclusively developed by the carmaker. To further enhance the comfort quotient, the seats have been stitched with memory foam. Other highlight features include a panoramic sun roof (in the top-end trim), an 8-inch infotainment with mobile phone mirroring tech like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, electric tailgate, engine start/stop function, a 12.3-inch all digital driver display and more. The C5 Aircross also comes equipped with a bunch of safety features like Bling Spot Detection, Park Assist, and Grip Control System. The C5 Aircross has already been put through its paces by the Euro NCAP where it received an impressive 4-star rating.

Powering the C5 Aircross will be a 2.0-litre diesel motor that is expected to make 177bhp and 400Nm. This engine will come mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. We will get more details about the C5 Aircross when the car makes its debut on 1st February. Although Citroen has still not confirmed an official launch date as yet, it is expected to be just a few weeks from now. Meanwhile, Citroen inaugurated its first dealership in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on 21st January. The company plans to expand to 10 dealerships across 10 major cities before the launch.
