The C3 hatchback, the second product of Citroen India, might have an aggressive price tag, given that 90 per cent of its production will be localised.
Citroen India so far has the C5 Aircross on sale, but the French carmaker plans to strengthen its portfolio by adding a more affordable hatchback to its portfolio. Citroen has already showcased the C3, and now reports online suggest that the India-specific hatchback will be launched by June.
The Citroen C3 will likely occupy the same market space as the Tata Punch, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite – it will essentially be a more pocket-friendly sub-four-metre jacked-up hatchback.
Citroen plans on heavily localising the production, which should result in a lower price tag as well as affordable ownership costs.
The C3 will feature a 1.2-litre petrol engine, and the gearbox options should include a manual and an automatic unit. For now, it is safe to assume that the Citroen C3 will miss out on a diesel drivetrain.
However, to keep costs in check, the Citroen C3 may miss out on features such as projector headlamps, alloy wheels, and a rear wiper, but the C3 will surely get the 10-inch infotainment screen, with Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
The prices are likely to start from Rs 6.5 lakh (ex-showroom), while the higher trims could demand close to Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).
