Citroen India has hiked the prices of the C3 hatchback and the C5 Aircross SUV ahead of the launch of the Citroen eC3 electric vehicle. The automaker has announced a price increase of up to Rs 50,000 on these two models. The Shin dual-tone Citroen C5 Aircross SUV is now priced at Rs 37.17 lakh (ex-showroom) following the Rs 50,000 price increase. Similar to this, the Citroen C3 hatchback saw an increase in price by up to Rs 27,500 across India. The price of the car has increased by Rs 20,000 for the turbo-petrol model and by Rs 27,500 for the NA petrol model. The price increase will take effect on January 1, 2023.
The latest price increase comes about a month after the firm confirmed a price bump in December of last year. Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Honda, and other major automakers have recently announced price increases beginning in January 2023 as well. The step intends to offset rising input costs while also complying with stricter emission standards slated to take effect in April 2023. Vehicles will be required to have onboard self-diagnostic equipment to monitor real-time driving pollution levels under the new regulations.
