Citroen C3, Basalt, and Aircross Dark Editions to Launch in India on April 10
With the new Black Editions, Citroen hopes to strengthen its foothold in the Indian market by offering more distinctive and stylish options to customers.

Citroen is gearing up to introduce special Dark Editions of its popular models – the C3 hatchback, the C3 Aircross SUV, and the Basalt coupe-SUV – in India on April 10. These new variants are expected to bring a fresh, aggressive styling package to the lineup, featuring blacked-out exteriors, dark chrome accents, and sportier design elements. Aimed at enhancing the visual appeal while retaining the mechanical underpinnings, the Dark Editions will likely carry the same engine and transmission setups as their standard counterparts. Inside, buyers can expect an upgraded cabin experience with black leatherette upholstery, red contrast stitching, and other premium touches. With this launch, Citroen hopes to strengthen its foothold in the Indian market by offering more distinctive and stylish options to customers.
Citroen C3, Basalt, and Aircross Dark Editions: Exciting Updates
The C3 Dark Edition is expected to feature an exclusive black exterior shade with subtle cosmetic enhancements. These may include updated dual-tone alloy wheels and silver-finished faux skid plates for visual contrast. The cabin will likely adopt a full black interior theme, enriched with red stitching on the dashboard, seats, and armrests. Unique elements such as grey seat accents, ‘Dark Edition’ embroidery, and add-ons like branded cushions and seatbelt covers are also expected to be part of the package.

The Basalt coupe-SUV, too, will receive a distinctive black exterior, accented with contrasting trim details on the front grille and bumpers. While the wheels are likely to remain unchanged, a ‘Dark Edition’ emblem on the tailgate will serve as a subtle identifier. The interior will move away from the beige and bronze layout of the standard version, adopting a darker theme with black upholstery, contrast stitching, and dark chrome-finished AC controls. Feature-wise, it will carry over all the equipment from the top-spec trim, such as the 10.25-inch infotainment screen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, and a six-airbag setup.
The C3 Aircross will join the lineup with a sleek black paint job, complemented by silver skid plates. Its dual-tone alloy wheels are expected to be retained, while a black ‘Dark Edition’ badge will likely be placed on the rear. The cabin will mirror the dark exterior, featuring black leatherette seats with red accents, glossy black inserts on the dashboard, illuminated sill plates, and ambient footwell lighting – bringing a more premium and sporty flair to the interior.
Citroen C3, Basalt, and Aircross Dark Editions: Powertrain Options
As highlighted earlier, the Dark Edition variants of the Citroën C3, Basalt, and Aircross are expected to retain their current powertrains, with no mechanical changes. The C3 Dark Edition will likely continue with the 1.2-litre petrol engine, available in both naturally aspirated and turbocharged versions, paired with either a manual gearbox or a torque converter automatic transmission.

The Basalt is also expected to offer the same engine choices: a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol unit mated to either a six-speed manual or automatic, and a naturally aspirated 1.2-litre engine offered exclusively with a five-speed manual. Similarly, the Aircross Dark Edition is set to carry forward its existing three-cylinder petrol engines – both NA and turbocharged – along with the current manual and automatic transmission options.
