Citroen recently confirmed that its Basalt Coupe SUV will debut next month in India. It has now dropped a teaser video giving us a peek into the cabin of the SUV. In the teaser, the first thing you see are beige seats with adjustable headrests, along with a centre armrest with integrated cup holders. The vehicle seems to also have the familiar dashboard layout, with a freestanding touchscreen infotainment system at the centre. We expect it to be the same 10.2-inch unit as the C3 Aircross. However, the dashboard trim is likely to get a different colour.
Other expected bits include a 7.0-inch digital driver’s display, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, ventilated front seats, electric folding mirrors, power windows, automatic climate control, cruise control, a panoramic sunroof, push-button start, keyless entry, and wireless charging.

Safety-wise, the car is expected to be equipped with a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control, ABS, hill-hold assist, rear parking sensors, a parking camera, and six airbags.
Citroen Basalt: Engine
Under the hood, the production-spec Citroen Basalt will likely come with the same 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine as the C3 Aircross. In the Aircross, the engine produces 108bhp and 205Nm of torque. Expected transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
Built on the Stellantis Smart Car platform, the upcoming Basalt will be manufactured in India and exported to South American markets. After the launch, it will rival the upcoming Tata Curvv Coupe SUV in the mass-market SUV segment and will serve as an alternative to the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen Taigun, Kia Seltos, and Skoda Kushaq.
