The Citroen Basalt, launched in August at Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom), has proven its safety. Sharing its platform with the Aircross, the coupe SUV was crash-tested by the Bharat New Car Assessment Program (BNCAP). It earned a 4-star safety rating for both adult and child occupants. The Citroën Basalt's safety features six airbags, electronic stability control, ISOFIX mounts, hill hold control, and 3-point seat belts for all seats as standard. It also uses high-strength steel, Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS), and Ultra High Strength Steel (UHSS) to absorb front and side impacts, reducing cabin intrusion and protecting passengers. The NCAP shared the results and a video on its website and YouTube. These tests were done the same month as the Basalt's launch in India.
