The Citroen Aircross, Basalt, and C3 Dark Editions are expected to retain the same powertrain options as the standard versions.
Citroen is gearing up to launch dark editions of its models—the Basalt SUV Coupe, the C3 Aircross, and the C3 hatchback —in India soon. The most recent teaser once again highlights the Basalt's dark edition while giving a first look at its counterparts, the C3 and the Aircross. As shown, all three cars feature a black exterior finish, complemented by dark chrome accents on certain components. Inside, they stand out with red stitching on the dashboard, all-black seats, and unique red ‘Citroen’ embossing—details not found in the standard models. These upgrades enhance the overall premium feel of the cars.
With the introduction of the black editions, Citroen aims to compete with automakers like MG, Hyundai, and Tata Motors, who are already established in India's growing market for dark-themed models. This move will help Citroen attract a more style-conscious audience looking for a bold and distinctive look in their vehicles.
Citroen has not revealed any mechanical changes for the black edition models. However, given that these updates are primarily visual, the three cars are expected to retain the same powertrain options as the standard versions. These include a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine with 81bhp and 115Nm and a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine with 108bhp and up to 205Nm.

The transmission options are a 5-speed manual for the naturally aspirated engine and either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic for the turbo-petrol variants.
The complete feature and safety specifications for the Dark Editions are yet to be announced, but it is expected that the upcoming versions will be based on the top-spec variants. The Basalt, C3, and Aircross share several features, such as remote keyless entry, a 7-inch digital display for the driver, a 10.2-inch touchscreen, automatic climate control, and electrically adjustable ORVMs. On the safety front, all three models come with ABS with EBD, 6 airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), a hill start assist, and a rearview camera with proximity sensors.
