As Shanghai GM marked their 10th Anniversary in China, they showcased a futuristic all-electric, self-driven concept -- Chevrolet-FNR at Auto Shanghai 2015. We have seen many self-driven cars in the past one year, but none look so sophisticated and sporty like the Chevrolet-FNR. It was developed in Shanghai by GM’s Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center (PATAC) joint venture.

When GM's engineering, design and electrification teams started working on this concept, their aim was to create a unique, intelligent vehicle for tomorrow’s younger consumers by utilising innovative car networking technology.

We love the all glass capsule design, and going by its looks it could easily feature in the next Marvel or DC superhero movie. It has crystal laser headlights and taillights, dragonfly dual swing doors, magnetic hubless wheel electric motors and a wireless auto-charge system.

The Chevrolet-FNR is loaded with a range of intelligent technologies mostly seen in science fiction movies. They include sensors and roof-mounted radar that can map out the environment to enable driverless operation, Chevy Intelligent Assistant and iris recognition start. The Chevrolet-FNR can also serve as a “personal assistant” to map out the best route to the driver’s preferred destination.

The Chevrolet-FNR has a manual driving mode also which can be switched on by the driver by simple gesture control. As it is a self-driven car, the front seats can swivel 180 degrees so that the driver can chat with the rear passengers face-to-face. If this is what the future looks like, then we can't wait to sit behind the wheel.
