This one is a true blue Chevrolet with its humongous size, spacious cabin and powerful engine. On the face of it atleast, the Trailblazer appears to have a promising time in our SUV crazy nation
Chevrolet has finally put a price tag on its Trailblazer SUV in India. A single variant of the Chevrolet Trailblazer has been launched with an introductory price tag of Rs. 26.40 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. The Trailblazer is here to lock horns with premium SUVs in its segment like the bestselling Toyota Fortuner, Hyundai Santa Fe, Isuzu MU-7, Ssangyong Rexton and the Ford Endeavour, of which the next generation model is India bound.
So how exactly does it stand against its well established rivals? Well, for starters it stands out, and in a rather distinguished manner with its gigantic structure measuring 4,878mm length, 2,132mm in width and 1,851mm in height. Powering this enormous structure on wheels is the SUV’s 2.8 litre, four cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine developing 197bhp of max power @ 3,600 rpm and 500Nm of peak torque @ 2,000 rpm. This makes it the most powerful SUV amongst its rivals here. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox.
“The Trailblazer is Chevrolet’s toughest yet most refined SUV, offering premium ride and handling dynamics. It has a commanding road presence and a host of first-in-class features along with the latest technology and design,” said GM India President and Managing Director Arvind Saxena.
Making their presence felt is a core criteria for SUV buyers in India and as far as that is concerned, the Chevrolet Trailblazer sure ticks the right boxes. Having said that, if you are looking to go off-roading in the Trailblazer you will have to take a step back as Chevy India is only offering the two-wheel drive model in the country for now. Despite that the Trailblazer’s rather high 253mm ground clearance will come in more than handy in dealing with some of our poor road conditions outside cities and in some cases, the lack of proper roads altogether.
The interiors of the Trailblazer are not a bad place to be in either with its two-tone colour layout, roomy cabin and comfortable leather seats. The SUV comes decently equipped with a touchscreen Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system with Siri voice control and is hooked to six speakers. It comes with USB, AUX and Bluetooth connectivity and steering mounted controls, power socket, dual gloveboxes, second and third row air vents, rear view camera and more.
Safety features include electronic stability control, brake force distribution, corner brake control, ABS, hill hold, hydraulic brake assist, panic brake assist and traction control.
All in all, the new Chevrolet Trailblazer looks like it ought to have a promising time in the Indian market.
