Chevrolet’s best-seller Cruze has surpassed the 3.5 million global sales mark, General Motors has announced in an official statement.
The Cruze is currently sold in 115 markets around the world including India, with the US, Brazil and Canada the major driving force. In the United States, Chevrolet sold 273,060 units of the Cruze in 2014, recording a 10% rise over the previous year. Cruze also brings new buyers to the company, with 35% of all buyers new to the brand.
“In every corner of the globe, Cruze has been successful at introducing new and younger customers to Chevrolet,” said Alan Batey, president, General Motors North America and global Chevrolet brand chief. “Compact car customers are looking for style, safety and connectivity at an affordable price and the Cruze delivers on all fronts.”
The milestone has been achieved as Chevrolet prepares to launch the next-gen Cruze on June 24. The new model will be larger yet lighter than the current variant and will feature an upgraded powertrain. New technologies such as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will also make way to the 2016 Cruze.
Cruze is one of the five cars from Chevrolet that have been revamped recently.
