Amidst the reveals of near production models and showcase of brand’s potential in concept form, a lot of carmakers launched interesting new products at the Auto Expo 2020. Here’s a quick revision of all the cars that were launched
Skoda Octavia RS:
Price: Rs 35.99 lakh (ex-showroom)
Skoda brought the Octavia RS to India in September 2017 and as expected it was sold out in a jiffy. At the Auto Expo 2020, they have now launched the Octavia RS 245 at Rs 35.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Unlike the one that was sold in 2017, this Octavia RS develops 242bhp and 370Nm – 15 horses and 20Nm more than the model it replaces. Aside from the more powerful motor, the Octavia RS also gets some cosmetic changes like blacked out grille and ORVMs, a new set of alloy wheels, LED headlights and more. Despite the larger 18-inch alloy wheels the RS 245 comes fitted with, it now sits marginally lower than the outgoing model. Skoda will commence bookings of the Octavia RS 245 on 1st March and only 200 units of the car will be brought to India.
Kia Carnival:
Price: Rs 24.95-33.95 lakh (ex-showroom)
Kia Motors’ brought in their second offering for the Indian market, the Carnival at the Auto Expo 2020. The Carnival is offered in five variants in 7, 8 and 9-seater options. While the Carnival isn’t quite a direct rival to the Innova Crysta, especially considering its Rs 18-23 lakh price range, it is the closest best option to the popular Toyota MPV. With loads of features and creature comforts, the Carnival promises to be an extremely comfortable and luxurious MPV. Kia commenced bookings of the Carnival in the third week of January and had already received more than 3,500 bookings when it was launched on 5th February. 2020 Tata Harrier:
Price: Rs 13.69-20.25 lakh (ex-showroom)
One of the biggest limitations of the Tata Harrier was its 138bhp tuned 2.0-litre diesel motor. The 2020 Harrier now gets the 2.0-litre diesel motor in the same state of tune as the Jeep Compass and now produces 178bhp 350Nm. In fact, aside from the 6-speed manual transmission, the Harrier now also comes with a 6-speed automatic. Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4-door:
Price: Rs 2.42 crore (ex-showroom)
A four-door AMG that makes 630 horses and does 0-100km/h dash in just over 3 seconds, what’s not to like? Mercedes recently brought the AMG GT 63 S 4-door version to Indian shores and it was easily the fastest car to be launched at the Auto Expo 2020. This one gets the same 4.0-litre V8 motor that does duty on the standard AMG GT, but also flaunts the practicality of four-doors.
Mercedes-Benz V-Class Marco Polo:
Price: Rs 1.38 crore (ex-showroom)
Mercedes-Benz brought in the V-Class to India in January 2019, and later that year introduce the more luxurious V-Class Elite in November. For the adventurous souls, Mercedes-Benz has brought in the V-Class Marco Polo Edition at the Auto Expo 2020. While the overall silhouette and the engine specs remain the same as the standard V-Class, this one gets completely redone interior complete with a kitchenette, sofa-cum bed, a wardrobe, a fold-out table and more. Prices of the V-Class Maro Polo range from Rs 1.38 crore to Rs 1.46 crore.
Mahindra eKUV100:
Price: Rs 8.25 lakh (ex-showroom)
Taking another step towards the electric future, Mahindra launched the eKUV100 at the Auto Expo this year. Powered by a 15.9kWh battery pack the eKUV produces about 40kW (54bhp) of peak power and 120Nm of max torque. The eKUV100 gets a driving range of 147km and can be charged from zero to 80% in just 1 hour.
