As we step into the third month of 2021, the sales reports of February 2021 hint that the Indian automotive market is growing at a very steady pace. Some manufacturers have also seen a hike in the exports department
While some manufacturers have shown steady growth over the past months, manufacturers such as Nissan has seen a 312 per cent hike in their monthly sales. Carmakers such as Toyota have managed to keep the sale figure up with the launch of its facelift Fortuner along with the Innova Crysta that was launched in October 2020.
While Maruti Suzuki leads the sales board, the company has shown a growth of 10 per cent over its month-on-month sales chart. Following is a detailed car sales report for February 2021.
Hyundai India:
Hyundai India has clocked 51,600 units on their sales number for the month of February 2021. With respect to YoY sales figure from the BSIV era, Hyundai saw a growth of 29 per cent.
Simultaneously, the exports of Hyundai Motors India grew to 10,200 units for the month of February 2021. The exports have been up by 14.6 per cent with respect to 8,900 units in February 2020.
Cumulatively, Hyundai India has sold over 61,800 units for the month of February 2021 - Domestically and exports.
Tata:
Tata Motors has reported a cumulative growth of 51 per cent in sales figure. The company sold 61,365 units in February 2021 as opposed to 40,619 units in the corresponding month last year. The domestic sales stood at 58,473 units in February 2021 compared to the YoY comparison of 38,002 units last year. Tata reported YoY growth of 54 per cent in domestic sales, however, the sales are up by 116 per cent compared to the sales mark of 26980 units in January 2021.
Maruti Suzuki:
Maruti Suzuki has seen a hike in sales figure up to 11.8 per cent in the month of February 2021. Maruti Suzuki sold 1,52,983 units in February 2021 as opposed to 1,36,849 units sold in the corresponding month last year.
The company has also seen growth in month-on-month comparison where Maruti Suzuki sold 1,39,002 units in January 2021 the sales figure for the month of February were up by 10 per cent.
MG Motors:
MG Motors India managed a sales figure of 4,329 units in the month of February 2021. The sales number has been achieved cumulatively by the MG Hector, ZS EV and the full-size SUV, Gloster which is a 215 per cent growth YoY (Year on Year) February 2020. However, with respect to last month’s cumulative sales figures that stood at 3,601 units, MG Motors India has seen a growth of 20 per cent.
While MG sold 124 units of the MG ZS EV in the month of January. The electric crossover has received more than 350 orders during the month of February 2021.
Mahindra:
In the month of February 2021, Mahindra saw YoY growth of 44 per cent for their Utility Vehicles segment. The sales figure were up to 15,380 units as compared to the 10,675 units in February 2020. Although with respect to its January 2021 sales figures of 20,498. The sales for the month of February 2021 have dipped down by 5,107 units. The exports for the month of February 2021, stood at 1827 units as opposed to 1839 units for February 2021.
Many reports surfacing the internet suggest that Mahindra has been rigorously testing the next generation Scorpio and the XUV500 which are expected to break cover by the end of 2021. The upcoming two new SUVs could help Mahinrda rise the price figures in the coming months.
Nissan India:
Nissan India’s sales figures have been hiked to 4,244 units for the month of February 2021 with respect to 4,021 units in January 2021. However, the manufacturer has seen a growth of 312 per cent growth with respect to YoY sales with 1,028 units in February 2020.
Adding to the sales hike is the recently launched Nissan Magnite which has received over 40,000 bookings. And since its launch in December 2020, Nissan has been successfully able to turn 6,582 bookings out of the 40,000 to sales numbers.
Toyota:
Toyota India has managed to clock a sales figure of 14,075 units in the month of February 2021. Which is a hike of 3,723 units over the corresponding month’s sales figure last year.
With respect to Toyota’s sales number in January of 11,126 units - the company has seen a growth of 26 per cent in the consecutive month of 2021.
