The Cadillac CTS-V will reach a top speed of 200mph and will be premiered at the Detroit Motor Show in January.
If automobiles from Japan are synonymous with refinement, from Germany with world-class engineering, American cars have always been resonating with the word ‘muscle’ from the time I remember.
Taking the heritage further, Cadillac has gone a step ahead that has left the German competition fuming. The latest car from the luxury car manufacturer on papers is the third-generation CTS-V, but feels like sixth or seventh. It produces 640bhp of maximum power (10bhp less than the Chevvy Corvette Z06) and 855Nm of torque (27Nm less than the Z06), has a top speed of 200mph (320kmph) and will reach the 60mph mark from zero in 3.6 seconds. The CTS-V is not only the fastest, but also the most powerful Cadillac ever. Thank to the 6.2-litre supercharged V8 engine borrowed from the new Corvette Z06. This insane engine delivers powers to the rear wheels (yes, it is rear wheel driven) via an eight-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters. The Launch Control will help you stay in control of all that power available when you press the gas. The wider front and rear tracks along with a limited-slip differential and General Motors's third-generation Magnetic Ride Control and Performance Traction Management with four modes named Tour, Sport, Track and Snow will ensure that the car doesn’t take-off on a daily basis.
To make the competition more clear, or to figure out how the Cadillac CTS-V laughs over its German counterparts, let me just inform you all that a BMW M5 produces 552bhp and a Mercedes E63 AMG S delivers 577bhp of maximum power.
The car will make its appearance at Detroit Motor Show in January and will go on sale in summer of 2015 as 2016 Cadillac CTS-V.
