BYD has confirmed that it will launch its new passenger EV, the Sealion 7, in India by Q1 2025. The model is already available in several international markets and will make its Indian debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, set to start on January 17. In addition to the Sealion 7, BYD will showcase its current electric vehicle lineup, including the Seal, Atto 3, and BYD eMax 7, which are priced in India at Rs 41 lakh, Rs 24.99 lakh, and Rs 26.90 lakh. These are starting and ex-showroom prices. Although the exact cost of the Sealion 7 has yet to be revealed, it is expected to be around Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price, the EV will compete against the Kia EV6, the Hyundai Ioniq 5, and the Volvo EX40.
BYD Sealion 7: Design
The BYD Sealion has a dynamic, streamlined design, with smooth, flowing lines and an aerodynamic silhouette, highlighted by its signature ‘Ocean X’ front styling. True to BYD's design language, the car features a low-profile bonnet, slender LED headlights with integrated DRLs, and a blanked-off grille. It sports a coupe-inspired roofline that gently tapers towards the rear, 20-inch alloy wheels, body-coloured ORVMs, and flush-mounted door handles. The wheel arches are boldly accentuated with rugged black cladding, while the rear is highlighted by connected LED taillights that feature an eye-catching pixelated design.

BYD Sealion 7: Interior and Features
The BYD Sealion 7's cabin borrows the iconic 15.6-inch rotatable touchscreen from the Seal. A striking gloss black accent panel elegantly bridges the AC vents and seamlessly integrates a 10.25-inch digital driver's display. Moreover, the 4-spoke steering is equipped with intuitive controls, allowing easy access to audio functions and advanced driver-assistance systems.
Similar to the Seal, the center console of the Sealion prioritises functionality with a sleek layout. It includes the drive selector knob, a comfortable centre armrest, two convenient cupholders, and intuitive controls for terrain and drive modes. Other highlights include a head-up display (HUD), a panoramic sunroof, a 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system, heated and ventilated power-adjustable front seats with adjustable lumbar support, and vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality.
BYD Sealion 7: Powertrain
The Sealion 7 has BYD's cutting-edge e-Platform 3.0 Evo and Blade battery technology. It offers a choice between two powerful battery options (82.5 kWh and 91.3 kWh) and rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive, and an impressive range of up to 502 kilometres.
