The BYD Sealion 7 has earned a 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP. The test results show 87% for adult occupant protection and 93% for child occupant safety. For the protection of vulnerable road users, such as pedestrians and cyclists, the SUV scored 76%, while its safety assist features, including advanced driver assistance systems, earned 79%.
These scores indicate a comprehensive approach to safety, making the Sealion 7 more attractive to buyers prioritising safety. The BYD Sealion 7 was evaluated by the international testing agency in Comfort 2WD and other 4WD forms. In India, the SUV is available in two variants: the rear-wheel-drive Premium (Rs 48.90 lakh) and the all-wheel-drive Performance (Rs 54.90 lakh). BYD Sealion 7: Adult Occupant Protection Rating Explained
The Sealion 7 achieved 87% (34.8 points) for adult occupant protection. In frontal offset tests, it provided good protection overall, though the driver’s chest and left leg were rated as adequate. In the full-width test, rear chest protection was marked as weak.

The SUV performed well in side impact tests, with the centre airbag preventing head injuries during far-side crashes, but the excursion control received an adequate rating.
BYD Sealion 7: Child Occupant Protection Rating Explained
The Sealion 7 earned a high 93% (46 points) for child occupant protection from Euro NCAP. It achieved 24 points in crash impact tests, indicating good safety for both 6 and 10-year-old dummies in frontal and side impacts. However, its score in CRS installation was 10 out of 13 due to the lack of certain child safety provisions.

The Sealion 7 e-SUV made its debut in India at the Auto Expo 2025 before officially going on sale in February. BYD's India portfolio currently includes four models such as the Atto 3, Seal, the eMax 7, and Sealion 7.
