BYD Atto 3 Electric SUV Deliveries Commence in India
BYD, the Chinese automaker, has begun deliveries of the Atto3 electric SUV in India. In January 2023, it delivered the first batch of over 340 e-SUVs. Since its launch in the country last year, the BYD Atto 3 has received over 2,000 bookings.
BYD, the electric vehicle manufacturer, announced that it delivered the first batch of over 340 BYD Atto 3 premium electric SUVs in January. These EVs were dispatched to dealers last month and will be delivered to customers across India. The BYD Atto 3 was launched in India last year, at a starting price of Rs 33.99 lakh (ex-showroom). As of now, the car has received over 2,000 bookings. The carmaker intends to increase its dealer network to 53 by the end of the year. Since its launch in several international markets, the BYD Atto 3 has been a global model, selling 252,251 units in just 11 months. The e-SUV enjoyed strong consumer interest and sold 23,231 units worldwide in January 2023 alone. This electric SUV is claimed to offer a 521kms range on a single charge.
Commenting on the occasion, Sanjay Gopalakrishnan, Senior Vice President of the Electric Passenger Vehicle Business, BYD India, said, ‘We are delighted to announce deliveries of our first-born EV platform (e-Platform 3.0) premium electric SUV in India. We have been receiving an incredible response for the BYD Atto 3 e-SUV from customers. The excitement and enthusiasm to own and drive the sporty and feature-rich BYD Atto 3 is exuberant. The customer feedback and interest make us confident of capturing the Indian electric vehicle segment at a faster pace than we could have thought of.’

A 60.48kWh battery pack powers the India-spec BYD Atto 3, which boasts a claimed 521km of driving range on a single charge. The e-SUV comes equipped with a single electric motor, which churns out 201bhp of maximum power and 310Nm of peak torque. It is claimed to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 7.3 seconds. According to the Chinese automaker, a DC fast charger can fully charge this electric SUV from 0 to 80 per cent in about 50 minutes. To fully charge up, however, the standard AC home charger will need about 10 hours.
Some of the key features of the BYD Atto 3 include the L2 Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS) BYD Dipilot, an NFC card key, a 12.8-inch adaptive rotating screen, a 360-degree holographic transparent imaging system, a panoramic sunroof, and a Vehicle to Load (VTOL) mobile power station. Apart from these, the Atto 3 is also equipped with features like wireless smartphone charging, CN95 air filter, electric seat adjust, a one-touch electric tailgate, an eight-speaker audio system, PM2.5 air filter, voice control, and multi-colour gradient ambient lighting, which can adapt to the music.
As standard, the BYD Atto 3 comes with a 7kW home charger (plus installation), a portable 3kW charging box, a 3-year free 4G Data subscription, six-year roadside assistance, and six free maintenance services. Apart from this, the BYD Atto 3 offers a warranty of 8 years/1.6-lakh kilometres (whichever is earlier) for the traction battery, 8 years/1.5-lakh kilometres for the motor and the motor controller, and 6-year/1.5-lakh kilometres for the overall vehicle. In the Indian market, the car competes with the likes of the MG ZS EV and the Hyundai Kona Electric.

There are four colour options available for the BYD Atto 3 electric SUV – Boulder Grey, Parkour Red, Ski White, and Surf Blue. BYD also debuted a Limited Edition Atto 3 in an exclusive Forest Green shade at the recently held 2023 Auto Expo for Rs 34.49 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). This Limited Edition version of the model is now available for bookings/deliveries as well.
