BYD (Build Your Dreams), the Chinese EV manufacturer backed by Warren Buffett, recently rolled out the much-anticipated Atto 3 electric SUV in the Indian market. The deliveries of the BYD Atto 3 commenced in January this year, and the manufacturer has already delivered over 700 units of this electric SUV. Notably, BYD is also commemorating its 16th anniversary in India. Meanwhile, commenting on this milestone, Sanjay Gopalakrishnan, Senior Vice President of Electric Passenger Vehicles, BYD India, remarked, “We are happy to celebrate this milestone in India. As of February, we have delivered over 700 units of BYD ATTO 3s to various cities in India in just two months and have received very positive responses from customers. We believe more and more customers will choose our premium electric SUV. As always, we are fully committed to the market, our customers, and our dealer network.”

BYD Atto 3: Mechanical Specifications and Charging Time
The Atto 3's front axle-mounted permanent magnet synchronous electric motor generates 201bhp of maximum power and 310Nm of peak torque, enabling the electric SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 7.3 seconds. The 60.48kWh Blade battery pack from BYD gives the Atto 3 a 521-kilometre ARAI-rated range and regenerative braking. With a Type 2 (7kW) AC charger, the battery pack of the Atto 3 can be charged in about 10 hours, and with an 80kW DC fast charger, it can be charged in 50 minutes (from 0 per cent to 80 per cent). The company is providing a 3kW portable charging box and a 7kW home charger.
With a 3.3kW power output, the Vehicle to Load function on the Atto 3 allows the battery pack to be used to power external electrical appliances.
BYD Atto 3: Exterior Design
The Atto 3 has sleek headlights with wing-shaped LED DRLs on either side of a silver front grille that has been blanked off. The trapezoid-shaped dual-tone bumper, the faux silver skid plate, and the BYD lettering on the grille are additional features at the front.
The electric SUV has silver-finished C-pillars, 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, prominent shoulder lines, and blacked-out wheel arches on the sides. The Atto 3 has a large 'Build Your Dreams' lettering, a roof-mounted spoiler, full-length LED taillights, a chunky dual-tone bumper, and other exterior aspects. Four colors—Boulder Grey, Parkour Red, Ski White, and Surf Blue—are offered for the Atto 3 model.
BYD Atto 3: Interior Features
The interior of the electric SUV features a distinctive layout with features like door-mounted circular speakers, chic air conditioning vents, and a 12.8-inch rotating centre screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The BYD Atto 3 comes equipped with a panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate, a wireless phone charger, a 5.0-inch digital instrument panel, synthetic leather upholstery, powered front driver and passenger seats, and ambient lighting in a variety of colours. ADAS technology, a 360-degree camera, ABS, ESC, traction control, hill descent control, and seven airbags are among its safety features.

BYD Atto 3: Market Rivals
In the Indian market, the MG ZS EV and the Hyundai Kona Electric compete against the BYD Atto 3. The Nexon EV Max will also rival the Atto 3 despite not being a direct price competitor.
BYD: Commemorating 16th Anniversary
BYD set up a manufacturing facility in Chennai, Tamil Nadu when it first entered the Indian market in 2007. The firm began looking into the electric vehicle market in 2013, and as of now, it has invested more than $200 million (Rs 20 crore) in two plants across the country. In November 2021, BYD India unveiled the e6, the company's first entirely electric MPV. The BYD Atto 3's debut in November 2022 came after it.
