BMW X7

Priced at Rs 1.63 crore, the M50d is the fourth and the top-of-the-line variant BMW has added to its flagship X7. It packs a 3.0-litre six-cylinder 395bhp motor.

BMW seems to be on a car launching spree. Last month, the company brought in the 8 Series Gran Coupe and the M8 Coupe and yesterday they introduced the new third-gen X6. Now, the Munich-based carmaker has silently updated its website and added a new variant of the X7. Sitting at the top of the variant list, the X7 M50d is priced at Rs 1.63 crore (ex-showroom). BMW has three other variants of the X7 on offer - xDrive 30d DPE, xDrive 30d DPE Signature and xDrive40i M Sport.

Under the hood, the X7 M50d also comes with the same 3.0-litre six-cylinder motor as the rest of the variant range, but in this trim, it churns out 395bhp and an insane 765Nm. This makes it the most powerful and torquey variant of all. Transmission duties continue to be performed by an 8-speed automatic. BMW claims that this X7 can do the 0-100km/h run in just 5.4 seconds, which we feel is quite impressive given the size of the SUV.

To set the X7 M50d apart, BMW has forged it with sportier-looking and more chiselled front jumper. The M50d also seems to have marginally larger air dams as well. BMW has fitted the car with a full LED setup - from the headlights, taillights and even the fog lamps. The new trim also gets the M aerodynamics package that includes side skirts, wheel arch trims and more. Other highlights of this X7 include adaptive air suspension, M Sport differential and launch control. For those who still want more, BMW has a bunch of optional features as well, like ventilated seats, massage function, head-up display, soft closing doors and more.

BMW has the M50d on offer in 5 interior trims, 4 upholstery packages and 6 exterior colour options. The X7 competes against the likes of the upcoming new Mercedes-Benz GLS that is about to be launched on 17th June.
